Change your AppleID password and use 2FA. It’s never wise to assume any account you have, with anyone, is secure if you know or think your password is compromised. And if you use 2FA and they don’t have access to any of your trusted devices or telephone numbers then they could not get the 2FA code to restore your backup to their device (even before 2FA, anyone could have used the older 2 step verification system, but I don’t think many did). In the past, that method reportedly has been used to put ransom ware on people’s iPhones and iPads.īut the person would have to actually be able to authenticate as you to restore your iCloud backup to their device. If you were to then restore that altered iCloud backup to your device, it could contain malicious code. If someone has your AppleID password, and actually can access your iCloud backup, yes, in theory it is possible for them to restore your backup to their device, add malicious software and then backup again.
